Right now it's warm and sunny outside. It's a beautiful late summer day and I'm not sure I should be thinking about rainy days at all. Nevertheless, Switzerland is well known for it's rainy periods. Maybe they aren't quite as long as the famous English rainy weeks but it can get pretty wet here as well.
When it's nice out, people always know what to do. Walking, swimming, cycling - you name it! As soon as it starts to rain though, many people feel like they're stuck at home without anything fun to do. Plus, rainy days will come again soon enough! That's why I put together a list of 10 Fun Things to do on a Rainy Day in Switzerland a while ago. Since that post became quite popular, I decided to add another 10 fun things to the list.

Another 10 Fun Things to do on a Rainy Day in Switzerland
- Movies: Go see the latest movie at a local movie theater. Most films are shown in English with German and French subtitles so language shouldn't be an issue. Unless you want to test your Swiss German and opt for a Swiss movie.
- Go Outside: Yes, it's wet and probably cold. Still, a walk or a run will help you relax and get some fresh air. Simply dress for rain and off you go!
- Umbrella Counting: Visit a nice café - maybe one of these 5 great cafés in Zurich - and sit down near the windows. Choose a color and start counting all the umbrellas of that color that pass you outside. Works as a a game for two or more people as well.
- Indoor Rope Park: Visit Switzerland's largest indoor rope park in Grindelwald. Okay, that's not exactly nearby but a visit to the beautiful alpine village is always great - even in the rain!
- Sasso San Gottardo: Explore the fortress hat was literally dug into the Swiss Alps as part of Switzerland's underground defense system.
- Rock Climbing: There are plenty of options for indoor rock climbing. Check out Kletterzentrum Gaswerk near Zurich!
- Swimming: Most towns and cities have public indoor pools. Most are semi-olympic but there are a few olympic pools as well.
- Papillorama: Visit Switzerland largest butterfly exhibit. You can actually walk among the flying butterflies!
- Candle Making: At Kerzenwerk in Zurich you can make your own candles - or pull your candle how we say in Swiss German.
- Chocolate Making: Yes, what could be more Swiss than spending an afternoon making chocolate? You can do just that at Lindt. Join a chocolate making course!
