Also, like most bloggers out there, I've been checking site traffic regularly lately and found interesting keywords that led visitors to this blog. I decided to answer some of the 'questions' asked directly or indirectly through these keywords.
- Does Migros sell alcohol? - No, Migros itself does not sell alcohol or tobacco products. This has been the policy of Migros founder Duttweiler because he believed that the sale of health damaging products should not be supported by cheap prices. However, some supermarkets owned by Migros do sell alcohol, for example Denner.
- Where can I order Rivella? - If you don't live in Switzerland you can order Rivella (only the red version though) at the Swiss Food Store.
- What foods can you eat with Fondue? - Traditionally, Swiss people eat white bread with their cheese fondue. Personally, I also like dark bread, pears, potatoes, mushrooms (raw), all kinds of vegetables (precooked if necessary) or fruit (if you like the sweet and salty combination). You can also dip smoked meat. Extra tip: spices and herbs can add extra taste to the cheese mixture!
- Why is Roger Federer important in Switzerland? - Roger Federer is an extremely successful sportsperson and has made a fortune playing tennis. Yet, he has been able to keep to his principles and remain a friendly, simple (in a good way) and honest person. I find that very admirable and so do many of my fellow Swiss.
- Do all Swiss children drink Ovomaltine? - I have no idea how regularly Swiss people drink Ovomaltine. My guess would be that over 90% of Swiss people have had at least one Ovomaltine drink (hot or cold) in their life.
- Is Switzerland really not Sweden? - I can only say: Switzerland is not Sweden; after all, we Swiss do not have a king.... or is it a queen?!
I am always willing to answer more questions about Switzerland, life in Switzerland and more. Just leave me a comment and I'll get back to you!
